Too much creativity?

Is there such a thing as too much creativity? The truth is I believe it is the exact opposite, more time should be allocated the develop students creativity. One of the things that make us unique as a species is that we are able to be creative and create new innovative, useful designs and ideas. Yet, in many schools it is seen as “waste of time” for lack of a better word. It would be better if these times are used for curriculum purposes in preparation for exams, many administrators may argue.  It is funny, if you think about it, many of the “highly successful people” that we use to inspire our students with are basically the “highly creative” people. People who are able to take risks, view things from a different perspective and able to challenge the status quo.

We Create

I also believe that as a species we thrive when we have the opportunity to create. Many of us long too, but often, the tragedy of a formal education has rendered us to become a “non-creative” individual. I always tell my students, “You are a creative individual”. You need to hone your creative skills and change the world! Creativity, it’s within the reach of all us, if you look hard enough.
